great interview! i am a fan of lifting and while it was a little intimidating at first, i recruited some of my male friends to show me the ropes. always helps to have a trainer show you proper form in the beginning, too :)
ah! Awesome interview Lesley! My favorite part is her thoughts on why weight training is important and this quote specifically "it is also the key factor if you want to reshape your body." Yes yes! Lift those weights ladies!
Wow, very informative! Those were some excellent questions. I've been one to ask the cardio vs. weights question, and since I've starting lifting I've answered my own question. My arms are looking great! I never actually felt "toned" until I started lifting, no matter how much I ran or did other cardio workouts.
What a great person to interview! I have both of her cookbooks and I love them! I learned of some fantastic ingredients and methods through those books
Great interview! She gave some really good advice. I am a big believer in lifting! Also, if you don't buy the processed, packaged crap you can't eat it! It is pricey too. Save money and buy real food!
In regards to your question about being an RD, I really love it! Of course, I've only ever had a part time job (I went back to school right after becoming an RD, and am just finishing school), but all of the little odd jobs I do are really great.
-I work at a weight loss clinic; love it! - I have been the RD for a high school volleyball team(volunteer work, lots of fun) - I am currently working on a menu analysis for a local franchise - I have been the RD at a diabetes camp (one week about two summers ago, such a great experience) - I have done numerous private consultations with friends/neighbors/coworkers, etc, which is what I would eventually like to do for a business one day.
First of all... I have been gone for about a week now and WAY behind on posts! I had to say your hair is just adorable! It's too cute on you!!
LOVE the interview with Tosca!! Lucky girl! She is amazing and I was quite obsessed with her book for awhile last year :)
I so agree with Tosca... DON'T be afraid to lift heavy! I haven't been lifting as heavy lately as I used to... but I was up to 20 lbs free weights for most of my exercises... for me, that's awesome! And that's when I saw the BIGGEST change in my body!
I love the tips. I am going to incorporate more weight training into my routine. I read that for every pound of muscle you build, you can eat 50 more calories per day and not gain weight!
Nice!! I need to buy that book! I saw it in the store the other day!
